Belatedly, I've noticed this on one of our fellow LJ communities. Am I right to think that HOH means 'hard of hearing'? If so, people who sign or know about signing might want to fill out the questionnaire. I've invited the author to look at what we say here about signing.

Today is the World Health Organization's International Day for Ear and Hearing. Here's a blog post about it.

Hearing loss is very common and most of it arises from preventable causes. Yet still, many people treat it as a joke.

Wasn't it fabulous when a choir signed the National Anthem at the Paralympic opening ceremony? The clip doesn't yet seem to be online but no doubt it will appear. The school wants him to change the sign he uses for his name

The school rules say that you're not allowed to posses anything that "looks like" it may be a weapon, and apparently this little boy's sign-language sign for his name looks too much like a weapon for their comfort. So I guess he's not allowed to possess his hands.
